I have some items which I would like to bring to your attention.
TY Calendar
I am attaching the Transition Year calendar for the attention of the TY parents.
Student Attendance procedures
In order to correctly monitor student attendance, I would be grateful if you will assist in the following actions when your son/daughter is absent from school.
1. Please send an e mail explaining the student’s absence to the relevant e mail address as follows;
And
Please write an absence note in the student’s journal. (This will enable to subject teacher to monitor your child’s attendance)
2. If your son/daughter has to leave for an appointment during the school day, please send an e mail to the above e mail address.
The above two e mails need to be sent by 8.15 so that the Year Heads can process them before going to class.
3. If you have to collect your son/daughter unexpectedly for an emergency appointment during the school day, please send me an e mail or phone the school to speak to me. I will then be able to arrange for the student to sign out.
4. If your son/daughter is ill during the school day they can ask me or one of the Deputy Principals to give them permission to be collected.
Open Evening
As we start the enrolment process for 1st year 2025/2026, we will be having our annual Open Evening on Wednesday September 18th from 6-8pm. As usual, classes will end at 2.45 on the day.
If you have a child in 6th class currently, Application forms for Admission to first year 2025 are now available from Reception. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is October 21st, 2024 at 3.45.
New students 2nd to 5th Year]
A warm welcome to the students who have joined GCS in 2nd to 6th year this year and I hope that they are settling in well. At this stage they should all have their lockers, swipe cards, Teams and Journals. If there are any issues, please contact me and I will address the situation.
School Costs
The school costs for lockers, Insurance, swipe cards journals etc. are outlined on Easypayments which can be accessed vis the school website. (Top right hand side of the home page).
PE Uniform Update
Due to the issues arising from the difficulty in getting the school PE uniform in a timely manner for many parents this Summer, I am pleased to inform you that the school will have two PE uniform suppliers going forward and the second supplier will be available in town.
Signing the Journal
Please sign your son/daughter’s journal every Thursday night (Tuesday night for TY parents)
