School Notices 10/10/24

Dear Parents,

I hope you are all well. I have some notices which I would like to bring to your attention.

Congratulations to the GCS students who received their Junior Cycle results yesterday. The results were excellent and the number of top grades has increased from last year, which was also has a great set of Junior Cycle results.

I am attaching a letter with details around appealing your child’s grade.

I am aware that some students who achieved Higher Merits were disappointed in some instances not to get Distinctions, but it is important to be aware that the Higher Merit grade is from 75% to 89% and some of the Higher Merit grades awarded may be very close to a Distinction. A Higher Merit is an excellent grade for a student to achieve and should be recognised as such.

This year the results of the November, February and May assessments will be posted to you in addition to being available to view on VS Ware. This is an initiative that we are trying in order to improve access to your child’s results.

I am attaching a notice outlining a workshop addressing the area of School Refusal. If you feel that this is relevant you, feel free to book a place and attend.

As you may be aware, this year’s school musical, Sister Act, will be taking place in Gorey Little Theatre from October 15th to 19th. It looks set to be an excellent show and tickets are selling fast. You can book your tickets on gre8tevents .ie

We are having a dress rehearsal on Monday afternoon and all 1st year students will be attending.

If you wish to sponsor raffle prizes. Please alt me know. All prizes are gratefully received.

This will take place in the Gym from 4.15 to 6.45. Classes will finish 15 minutes earlier.

We will be publishing an electronic newsletter on a half termly basis and the first edition will be available next week. This is free and is a wonderful way of becoming familiar with the wide variety of activities taking place in GCS.

Please ensure that your child conforms to the school uniform regulation. The standard is high and continues to be monitored. An area of concern expressed by staff is the length of the some of the school skirts. Please unsure that your daughter’s school skirt is no higher than the knee.
