Dear Parent,
I hope you are all well. As we draw to the end of a busy term I would like to bring the following items to your attention.
Digital Newsletter
This is the second edition of the GCS Newsletter and provides us with a flavour of the busy school lives of our GCS community. I am attaching the link and it is also available on the school website.
Last day of Term Arrangements
There will be a festive themed non uniform day on Friday and students are asked to contribute €2. GCS is a registered charity and the money collected will be put into immediate improved facilities for the students, in consultation with the Student Council.
Classes will end at 1.05 and buses have been notified.
Mock Fees
I would like to remind the parents of 3rd and 6th year students that the mock fees are now due and can be paid on Easy Payments on the school website.
While there are no fees for the state examinations in June 2025, there will be Mock fees.
2nd Year Parent Teacher Meeting
This meeting will be an in person event and will take place in The Gym on Thursday January 9th, 2025 from 3.15 – 5.45
I would strongly urge attendance as this type of engagement with your child’s teachers improves educational outcomes.
Attendance at the three P/T Meetings held so far this term has been excellent with in excess of 80% of students represented.
5th Year Subject Choice/LCA
An information meeting for parents of students going into 5th /LCA in September 2025 will take place in The Oratory at 6.30 on Wednesday January 15th, 2025.
The students will be receiving subject choice clinics and workshops from the careers Guidance Department from January 6th.
And Finally….
While I wish all of you a peaceful and pleasant Christmas, I am aware that Christmas can be a difficult time for many and our thoughts are with the members of the school community who have lost a loved one in the past year.
Thank you for your ongoing support and I look forward to working with you again in 2025.
Kind Regards
Michael Finn
