I have two notices to bring to your attention.
1. Daffodil Day
The school will be involved in fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society on Friday March 28th There will be a non uniform day and the students will be asked to donate 2 Euro..
There will be Student Council members selling raffle tickets each day this week in reception at lunchtime. Each ticket will cost €2, or three for a €5.
There is a wide variety of prizes on offer:

2. languages Connect Programme
Please find below information in relation to the availability of classes in languages that are not currently taught in GCS. The Languages Connect Programme allows students to avail of tuition so that they can take exams in those extra languages at Leaving Cert level.
What are Leaving Certificate Saturday Classes?
Languages Connect run classes in lesser-taught languages to support students around Ireland to prepare for the Leaving Certificate exams.
These classes are funded by the Department of Education and are free of charge for students. They provide very useful tuition and guidance for students.
What languages are taught?
Chinese, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian & Russian.
Who are these classes for?
The classes are for Leaving Certificate students who cannot access lesser-taught languages as a Leaving Certificate subject in their school.
Students should register the spring/summer before they begin fifth year.
When do the classes run?
Classes are run on Saturdays during the school term time and cover the Leaving Certificate course over a two-year period.
Some of the classes are available online. Locations for in person classes are decided based on enrolments / need.
Key dates:
Registrations for all incoming fifth years are now open.
Registrations for new fifth year students will close Friday 29th August. Places are offered on a first come first served basis.
Registrations for sixth year students (2025 - 2026) will be sent to students in March. These registration forms will close Friday 30th May 2025.
