Dear Parents,
I hope you are all well and had a nice weekend.I have a few items to bring to your attention.
TY Return
The TY students are asked to go directly to the gym period one tomorrow.
Attendance
Excellent attendance at school is of vital importance if the students are to excel both academically and socially. It a student misses a day from school they are automatically placed at a significant disadvantage as they will have missed vital material from up to six class periods. The teachers cover a lot of material in an hour and it is difficult for the student to fill this academic gap.
This year's leaving cert results were outstanding and were probably one of the best sets of results in the history of the school. It is no great surprise that the students who achieved their academic potential are the students with excellent attendances records.
Absence Notes
When the student is absent you are asked to write a note in the student's journal and to send an e mail to
1stYearAbsences@goreycs.ie
2ndYearAbsences@goreycs.ie
3rdYearAbsences@goreycs.ie
4thYearAbsences@goreycs.ie
5thYearAbsences@goreycs.ie
6thYearAbsences@goreycs.ie
The student will present the note to the year head office before 8.40 on the morning of the student's return to school.
This two step system is in place so that the school can work to monitor your child's attendance and safety.
1st Year Enrolments 2027/2028
