Students in Gorey Community School at Senior Cycle complete a two-year programme leading to a terminal state examination – the leaving certificate examinations. Students study seven subjects to Leaving Certificate.
All students take the following core subjects:
Gaeilge, English, Mathematics, Religious Education and Career Guidance. In some cases, students take non-exam Physical Education.
Students choose four additional subjects from the following:
Applied Maths, History, Geography, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Home Economics, Business, Accounting, Economics, Art, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Construction Studies, Design and Communication Graphics, music, Computer Science and Physical Education.
Grading
The Leaving Certificate grading system allocates marks from H1 - H7 in higher level subjects and O1 – O7 in ordinary level subjects. Students meet with the Guidance Team to seek advice and guidance on courses and options available to them. The Guidance Team also offers assistance when filling in the CAO form.
